Virtue Behavior Consultants, Inc., puts your child first. We provide in-home therapy based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior for children with autism and other behavioral needs. Direct, 1:1 therapy is provided with close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and research-based treatment plans are developed to meet each child’s individual needs.
We prioritize functional needs in your child’s natural environment, and we believe that learning can occur any place, any time. For this reason, you will never see the same question repeated a dozen times in a row while sitting at a table, but you will see therapists down on the ground, playing, sharing fun activities with your child, and getting their hands dirty the same way kids do…. and using these opportunities to teach language, behavior, and functional skills.
Services
ABA
Applied Behavior Analysis is the scientific study of human behavior. By arranging environmental variables, behaviors and skills can be systematically taught, strengthened, or decreased. ABA utilizes research-based strategies and approaches to modify behavior.
Functional Behavioral Assessments
An FBA is a multi-step process which includes both direct and indirect information and data gathering. A Functional Behavior Assessment is used to develop a Behavior Intervention Plan, which includes all of the necessary components for decreasing a challenging behavior while increasing a functional replacement behavior.
Assessments
The Assessment for Basic Learning and Language Skills-Revised is an assessment tool consisting of 544 skills from from 25 domains, ranging from expressive language skills to classroom and learning skills to self-help and functional skills. The Assessment of Functional Living Skills is an assessment tool that focuses on skills required for independence in daily living, community, and work environments. Other assessments are used on an as-needed basis or when a learner is identified as requiring other assessment needs.
Training
Research shows significantly better outcomes for children whose parents and caregivers carry over applied practices based on the science of human behavior. We support families through caregiver training, which is an essential component of every child’s individualized treatment plan.
